Weekend Wrap-up #1

I meant to post yesterday, but I spent the day glued to the news and writing about my closet wasn’t exactly the first thing on my mind.

As planned, on Friday night I forced myself to go through the heaps of pants. It was disheartening, but I expected as much. This morning, I folded up the clothes that I’d been piling on the floor throughout the week and tallied up the results.

Total number of items that are going away…35. I’m parting ways with four pairs of pants and two pairs of shorts; three dresses and four skirts; one sweater, two tank tops, three blouses, and a whopping 16 tees.

About half of it was due to size/fit issues, the rest were things I either don’t wear or “outgrew” style-wise. I still have plenty of stuff to wear.

… and I have a whole lot of hangers.

I'd better get rid of these before I put new clothes on them.

Do I still have a lot of clothes? Of course. But my goal isn’t necessarily to get my closet down to a set number of items (although I have done that in the past). I just want to have space in my closet so I can see what’s there, and I want to wear the clothes I have. It’ll be nice to open my closet and pick something out without that “nothing to wear” feeling.

Now… if I could just convince myself to go through my shoe collection. *sigh* Maybe someday.

About The Wonderful Blog

This blog is inspired by the Mae West quotation that "Too much of a good thing is wonderful." Each week I'll post a challenge to make your life more wonderful. It might be food, exercise, travel, or beauty related. Be sure to participate each week so that you can have too much of a good thing. I'm Jen. I'm a speech therapist in Arizona who likes to make stuff, cook delicious food, and complete items from my list of 101 Things to Do in 1001 Days. This blog is just another way for me to focus on doing things that make my life even more wonderful.

I failed on completing my closet clean-out. I am still working on it, though, and determined to finish this week!

  2. Mart says:

Congrats! I seriously needed to participate in this challenge. However, I have no time for such things these days. It will probably happen this summer, after I’m no longer pregnant and cannot handle having maternity clothes or the clothes from before I was pregnant that will never fit again.

  3. Janet Regina says:

Mine will take awhile, but I have a bag to donate and I threw some items out. I have so many clothes!

    • Me too! Bryan looked at my closet this morning (after I bragged about cleaning it out) and laughed at me. I showed him the huge pile of clothes I have to give away, and he still didn’t seem very impressed. Boys.
